Aomori Citizens' Pledge >>
We, the citizens of Aomori, the children of blue skies, blue sea and blue forests, inheritors of an ageless history, proud of our culture and traditions; out of love for our hometown Aomori, and out of the desire to build a community filled with dreams and hope for the future, hereby solemnly vow:
- We will cherish nature, to make our city beautiful
- We will work cheerfully, to make our city vibrant and rich
- We will always help each other, to make our city warm of heart
- We will always wear a smile, to make our city bright and peaceful
- We will take joy in learning, to make life in our city worthwhile
Proclamation of Peace >>
Since July 28th 1945, when Aomori was laid waste and countless numbers of its citizens killed in an air raid, all of us have worked together unceasingly to turn our city once more into a prosperous, comfortable, attractive and livable community. Now that this goal has been reached, we will continue to strive for an even better Aomori ― an Aomori full of charm, an Aomori with a smile.
We are the children of blue skies, blue sea and blue forests, handed down to us through countless generations. It is our duty, in our turn, to pass them on to our descendants, until the end of time.
Never again must we expose our beloved hometown to the ravages of war. Instead, we pray for eternal peace throughout the world, that peace which is the basis of our Constitution and the common wish of mankind.
We are convinced that the three non-nuclear principles must be upheld and that all nuclear weapons everywhere should be dismantled and abolished. In this spirit, we hereby proclaim Aomori a City of Peace.
Equal Rights Proclamation >>
- As highly as I esteem myself,
- I esteem my fellow man.
- Across the barriers of gender,
- Across the barriers of the generations,
- Across the barriers of time,
- I want to be able to say proudly
- That I can live in trust and harmony with all.
- For the independence and equality of all human beings,
- Aomori City hereby proclaims
- Equal rights for men and women in our community.
